Seminar paper from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Company formation, Business Plans, grade: 81%, University of South Wales, language: English, abstract: The paper aims to analyse the current situation of a fictive company and moreover to work out an adequate internationalisation strategy considering the following three key objectives: 1. Reduce labour costs by shifting the production- centre to a low-income country, 2. Enter new markets in countries with a low level of market satisfaction, 3. Enlarge the range and variety of products through a highly educated R&D-Team. After evaluating the business environment, three potential target countries for the internationalisation process are assessed. In a next step the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats are lined out. Moreover a PEST-analysis is conducted to prepare for the location decision. Finally, the most adequate method is selected and a brief conclusion and recommendation are given.
Thomas Wittig aims at gaining additional insights into the crisis and turnaround process of SMEs, investigating both, the turnaround success and the impact of turnaround on the family role in family firms. Based on a specifically developed integrated conceptual turnaround model, the author collected a sample of 209 turnaround cases of German medium-sized companies from restructuring experts working for German banks. Employing a variety of carefully selected statistical analyses he identifies key factors for turnaround success and finds specific archetypes of crises and turnaround. The study concludes with an analysis of the impact of a successful turnaround on the family firms within his sample. Based on the studys insights he provides both, recommendations for future research and a set of practical implications for all relevant stakeholders of a turnaround situation. Dr. Thomas Wittig wrote his dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andreas Hack at the Witten Institute for Family Business (WIFU) at Witten/Herdecke University.

This volume of selected articles was released in light of the new economic, social and environmental challenges Europe and the United States have been faced with following the end of the Cold War and in the evolving era of globalization. National security, immigration, and the provision of health and other key social services call for a radically different outlook in terms of policy discussions. Audretsch is a Distinguished Professor and Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at Indiana University, where he is also serves as Director of the Institute for Development Strategies. He is an Honorary Professor of Industrial Economics and Entrepreneurship at the WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany. In addition, he serves as a Visiting Professor at the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, Honorary Professor at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena in Germany, and is a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London. Audretschs research has focused on the links between entrepreneurship, government policy, innovation, economic development and global competitiveness. His research has been published in over 100 scholarly articles in leading academic journals. He is co-founder and co-editor of Small Business Economics. In 2008, he received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Augsburg, and in September, 2010 he received an honorary doctorate degree from Jonkoeping University. Erik E. Lehmann is a Full Professor of Management and Organization at Augsburg University, Germany and Director of the Program Global Business Management (GBM). Together with Silvio Vismara he directs the CISAlpino Institute for Comparative Studies in Europe (CCSE). He serves as an associate editor of Small Business Economics: An Entrepreneurial Journal. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as European Finance Review (Review of Finance), Research Policy, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, Review of Accounting and Finance and Journal of Technology Transfer. His most recent books include Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth by Oxford University Press in 2006, Technology Transfer in a Global Economy by Springer in 2013 and Corporate Governance in Small and Medium Sized Firms with Edward Elgar in 2011. Aileen Richardson is a graduate of Indiana University with a B.A in Political Science and Economics. She is also a Research Fellow at Indiana Universitys Institute for Development Strategies. Silvio Vismara (PhD) is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurial Finance at the University of Bergamo, Italy. Together with Erik Lehmann, he directs the CISAlpino Institute for Comparative Studies in Europe (CCSE), a joint initiative with the University of Augsburg, in Germany. Silvio is associate editor of Small Business Economics, member oft he editorial review board of Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice and of Journal of Industrial and Business Economics. This book explores the internationalization of Turkish multinationals by examining a set of firms from various industries and providing eleven detailed case studies. The authors aim to discover the reasons behind the drive for internationalization within the firms, and how their internationalization processes work. Ekrem Tatoglu is Professor of International Business and serves as the Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Ibn Haldun University, Turkey. His research interests include foreign entry mode strategies of Turkish MNEs, strategic planning practices, high performance work practices and global management strategies. Business and environmental sustainability are not natural bedfellows. Business is about making money; sustainability is about protecting the planet. Samuel has published about fifty or articles in both professional and academic journals and contributed chapters in edited books and is the Editor-in-Chief of two major global reference books by Springer - the Encyclopedia of Corporate Social Responsibility (ECSR) and the Dictionary of Corporate Social Responsibility (DCSR) and he is a Series Editor for Springers books on CSR, Sustainability, Ethics and Governance. Samuel has been in academia for 27 years winning one of the Highly Commended Awards of Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence both in 2008 and 2014. In 2010, one of his edited books was placed in 18 th position out of forty top Sustainability books by Cambridge University Programme for Sustainability Leadership. He has examined for the following professional bodies: the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and has marked examination papers for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). His teaching career started in November 1987 at Merton College, Morden, Surrey; he was a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer at North East Surrey College of Technology (Nescot) for thirteen years where he was the Course Leader for BA (Hons) Business Studies, ACCA and CIMA courses. He has also held visiting lectureship posts at Croydon College and Kingston University both in the county of Surrey, England. He was a senior lecturer at London Guildhall University prior to its merger with the University of North London; when London Metropolitan University was created in August 2002. Samuel has served as an external examiner to a number of UK Universities including the University of Sunderland, the University of Ulster, Belfast and Coleraine, Northern Ireland and Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford. He is currently an External Examiner at the University of Plymouth, The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland and Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK. He was also the Treasurer and a Trustee of Age Concern , Hackney, East London from January 2008 to September 2011. He is a member of the Committee of the Corporate Governance Special Interest Group, of the British Academy of Management (BAM). Samuel is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Management of Environmental Quality Journal, International Journal of Business Administration and Amfiteatru Economic Journal.
