Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Company formation, Business Plans, grade: 1,7, University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim (Wirtschaft), course: Betriebswirtschaftliches Seminar, language: English, abstract: To have a great idea for a Start-up is a very good predisposition for a successful business. Despite this amazing thought, unfortunately a lot of Start-ups fail at the beginning. According to the statistics 34% of entrepreneurs are 20-29 years old and 40% are between 30-39 years old once they start their first business. Most of the people in this age are already well-educated and they do not have many savings. It makes them look for alternatives, which could support the first critical years of their Start-up. At the beginning no one wants to invest in an unknown business, which leaves them with the idea of borrowing money elsewhere. As a matter of fact, no one wants to take a disadvantageous loan, so young entrepreneurs usually ask their family and friends for help, but by taking this kind of money, they are putting the good friendships and relationships at stake. So what are the options? Where can a fresh entrepreneur start looking for help and financial support? The answer should be clearer after reading this paper. The goal we are trying to reach, is to give a better overview of the options of financing, the advantages and disadvantages of different methods and show it on real life examples. One of the most important thing is to be well informed about the possibilities which are available, so it may come to the realization of the original idea and building of a successful Start-up. In order to give a better insight on this topic, we will also choose existing Start-ups and analyse what methods they have used, how they were implemented and what they had to give in return. We will pick not only from the successful ones, but also from the less fortunate businesses as its important to understand the know-how of winners just as important as to know the mistakes of others.

Masters Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Company formation, Business Plans, grade: 1,5, Berlin School of Economics and Law (Berlin Professional School), course: MBA Master Thesis, language: English, abstract: This thesis examines how a software start-up can effectively shape its internationalization process to secure its market position and to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. To formulate possible recommendations, a literature study and a descriptive case study are carried out. The literature review considers the research domains of born globals, or rather, international new ventures, which describe the emergence of young, small and fast internationalized organizations. Furthermore, the literature study also reflects relevant theoretical explanations and frameworks such as: resource-based theory, knowledge-based view, dynamic capabilities, organizational learning, innovation theory, and international entrepreneurship. On this theoretical basis, study propositions are derived, which are then tested against the case study. The study consists of two cases and describes the internationalization process of two software start-ups. The results of the case study are then compared with the study propositions. Deviations are discussed in detail later. Finally, 24 recommendations are made which can support the effective internationalization process of a software start-up.

What does it take to succeed today both personally and professionally? In looking for answers, one obvious place to start would be to talk to self-made men and women who themselves are successful. Thats exactly what Michael W. Sonnenfeldt-an accomplished entrepreneur-has done here in this ground-breaking book. Drawing on the wisdom, insight and experience of members of TIGER 21 (The Investment Group for Enhanced Results in the 21st Century), and supplementing that with additional research and interviews, Sonnenfeldt offers real-world guidance and often counter-intuitive advice and conclusions. Among the things youll learn are: Why grit and focus trump intelligence just about every time. Why having-and listening to- a wise mentor will create shortcuts to getting more done. What you need to do to avoid getting in your own way. And why. Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations can be avoided by taking some simple, commonsense steps. Think BIGGER will inspire you, no matter where you are in your business career. It will also show you that the skills you use to grow wealth can be applied to making the world a better place. The Innovation-Friendly Organization - How to c...

This book explores five cultural traits - Diversity, Integrity, Curiosity, Reflection, and Connection - that encourage the birth and successful development of new ideas, and shows how organizations that are serious about innovation can embrace them. Innovation - the driver of change and resilience - It is totally dependent on culture, the social environment which shapes how ideas emerge and evolve. Ideas need to breathe, and culture determines the quality of the air. If its stuffy and lacks flow, then no idea, however brilliant, will live long enough to fulfil its potential. Creating these innovation-friendly conditions is one of the key challenges facing organizations today, and one that is especially difficult for them - focused as they are on efficiency and control. Innovation, Anna Simpson argues, begins with diversity of thought and attitude: the opposite of conformity and standardisation. Likewise, with ongoing pressures to deliver results before yesterday, how can organizations allow sufficient space for the seemingly aimless process of following interesting possibilities and pondering on the impact of various options? Anna Simpson shows how large organizations can adapt their culture to enable the exchange of different perspectives; to support each person to bring their whole self to their work; to embrace the aimlessness that fosters creative experimentation; to take the time to approach change with the care it deserves, and - lastly - to develop the collective strength needed to face the ultimate sledgehammer test. Anna Simpson is a writer and editor specialising in the future of business and society. She works at Forum for the Future as the Curator for its dynamic online Futures Centre, and lives in Singapore. Her first book, The Brand Strategists Guide to Desire was published in 2014. @_annasimpson

Conscious Collaboration - Re-Thinking The Way W...

When collaboration works, the results can be breath-taking! But it doesnt always deliver on its potential. Collaboration has been defined as an unnatural act practiced by non-consenting adults. And often thats exactly what it is! Some collaboration can be painfully difficult with the result that problems are either ignored or smoothed over until the collaboration falters or disintegrates, or self-interest and personal agendas take over and conflict quickly arises. Collaboration and partnerships work well in the aid sector because they have to - no one body has the resources to solve massive problems on their own. Business often sees the advantages of collaboratively sharing costs without fully recognizing the shift in mindset that is required to take managers with a winner takes all worldview and get them performing effectively in a win-win world. Part of the solution lies in bringing consciousness to the workplace and developing it as a core competence. A conscious approach to business relationships, planning, and delivery can enable individuals and organizations to truly think about what they are doing, make changes where needed, and become more effective. It is a particularly effective way of managing the multiple and occasionally conflicting stakeholder objectives inherent in any collaborative project. The author draws on his experience in the aid sector and with non-profit organizations to describe the building blocks that underpin successful collaboration, and inspires us to re-think the way we work together, for good. Ben has worked in the aid sector for the last 15 years, holding a range of roles that have seen him work with humanitarian and development agencies in more 40 countries. He spent ten years with People In Aid, an umbrella organization that provided HR and people management support to those working to reduce inequality and alleviate suffering. Prior to his career in the aid sector, he held a range of roles in the private and public sectors. He is the co-founder of The Conscious Project, a social business that typically works at Board, Executive, or senior management level and whose client list includes UNICEF, the Red Cross, Action Aid, Save the Children, Oxfam, CARE, World Vision, the International Rescue Committee, the International Water Management Institute, International Food Policy Research Institute, the Scout Association, Amnesty International, the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum, and the National Health Service.
